Breathe

#33 Breathe (Feb 17)

So much of our inner turmoil and emotional stressors from what's going on in our lives manifest in physical symptoms. ⁣ ⁣

Waking up yesterday with excruciating pain in my neck and being unable to turn my head came as no surprise to me given what has been going on in my life. ⁣ ⁣

What's important when this happens is for us to honour the signals that our bodies are sharing with us and to not simply mask these physical symptoms with chemicals (as our doctors are so quick to prescribe). ⁣ ⁣

We have to tune in, acknowledge those stressors and wounds, find ways to heal them and gently release them, especially through acts of self-care. For me that includes floating, meditation, reflection, breath work, and cultivating a compassionate internal dialogue. ⁣ ⁣

And sometimes, it includes seeking out external help and support. Today, that meant going for a healing massage at The Power of Three with hot stones, breath work, and energy healing to help facilitate that healing process, especially since I couldn't do much on my own to begin loosening the tension in my neck and shoulder with how restricted my range of motion has been. ⁣ ⁣

Breathe, be gentle, be kind, and remember that no matter how dark and overwhelming it all seems, it will get better. In some fashion, in some way, though maybe not in the way we think or hope, but it will get better. ⁣ ⁣
