Valentine's Day (Part 1)

Valentine's Day (Part 1)

With Valentine's Day around the corner, I wanted to share something I'd written last year. ⁣ ⁣

It was another turning point. A shift in mindset. A shift in focus.

Because society has told us what Valentine's Day is supposed to be like, look like, and feel like. But never forget the indisputable truth that we are the authorities of our own lives and the authors of our own stories. ⁣ ⁣

~ February 14, 2018 ~⁣ ⁣

Maybe this is a controversial thing to say today and maybe I'll be perceived as being egotistical? But on Valentine's Day, unlike the sweet posts on my feed of couples kissing and the many ways someone's Valentine is wonderful, on today's love day I'm going to write about myself. ⁣ ⁣

I'm going to acknowledge what's good about me because I think it's important to do from time to time, and so many of us never do. It's so much easier to love someone else, but at least for me, loving myself has been the one thing that I am the absolute best at failing at. ⁣ ⁣

Self-deprecation and prioritizing others 100% of the time get you nowhere. And these are two areas that I am an expert in so it's time that I learn to love, prioritize, admire, and care for me. That's why this year when I'm in the float tank, I've been repeating the mantra "I love you, and I will care for you." ⁣ ⁣

Part 1 of 2. To be continued.
