Phoenix Rising

2018, you tore me apart and burned me into the ground.

But you taught me that I am undoubtedly a survivor with a gentle but fierce warrior's spirit.

You showed me how to look for blessings amidst the devastation and wreckage of one's life.

You imparted the importance of cherishing pain because it is one of life's greatest teachers.

You helped me see my worth after a lifetime of calling myself worthless.

I am ready to let you go now while carrying forward the newly planted seeds of knowledge and wisdom that came from the unceasing onslaught of this year.

I pray that this paves the way for change and a much different New Year to the one now coming to a close.

I hope that you set me on fire and burned me to pieces so that, from the ashes, I can now be a Phoenix Rising.
